Hi guys David Chambers (Dave) calling
As your new President of the South Canterbury Salmon Anglers Association Incorporated I welcome all viewers to our website.
I have taken over from our long standing presidet Phil de Joux. Phil is still involved with the association and covering all our media items.
A wee bit about me:- I caught my first salmon, 50 plus years ago. We had a bach at Rangitata South side mid 60's to the 70's. I live in Temuka so live very handy to all rivers. I surf fish at the Orari mouth and mid and upper reaches of the Rangitata. I also fish up at Lake Alexandrina and have a caravan there. I am now retired which gives me more time for my passions.
I have served on the SC Salmon Anglers committee for around 30 years now. I am also involved with the McKinnons Creek Salmon hatchery and also spend time through out the winter up at the hatchery egg picking, cleaning race duties along with a lot of other members and volunteers.
Salmon fishing in Canterbury is a favourite pastime for many people and our organisation not only encourages participation in the sport, it is also heavily involved in Salmon enhancement through the McKinnon’s Creek salmon hatchery, and advocates for salmon fishers throughout the South Island.
We welcome new members to our association and encourage people to become involved in projects that protect and enhance salmon angling in the area. I would hope that new members and existing members get as much enjoyment out of catching wild salmon as I do.
